This is the new MKIII mdel which has the 160Gb hard disc which gives you around 40hrs digital recording and has the new Anytime TV facility. Sky + enables you to pause live TV or record one programme while watching another, all this without the use of videotapes. The onscreen menu is very easy to use, simply highlight the channel you wish to record and press the record button. It will automatically record at the time the programme starts, plus if you have instructed it to record several other programmes at different times it will record those as well. And if you run out of space, then you can export your favourite recordings to video or DVD if you have a DVD recorder.
Some of Sky+'s many features:
- Watch one Sky Digital channel and record another
- 40hr hard disk recording - same digital quality as live.
- Simply select tv programmes to record using Sky+'s fantastic enhanced Electronic Programme Guide - no more "how do I set the video?"! Alternatively, use the VCR-style manual timer - this even allows recording of radio programmes.
- Auto-record any series on any channel
- Pause live tv - immediately continue watching where you left off
- Live Rewind - If Sky+ is not already recording, it will continually record up to the last hour of the currently selected channel, enabling you to watch a programme that may have started within that time from the beginning.
- Set ‘bookmarks' in recordings for easy navigation - skip quickly through whole programmes or parts of them; Also jump straight to any known part of recordings simply by entering its disk time position.
- Recordings accommodate time changes in programme schedules; you can also set "padding" time around recordings to help ensure you don't miss the end of possible over-running programmes (e.g. live sport)
- Parental control on recordings
- Records and plays back subtitles
- Dolby Digital 5.1 compatible - Sky now broadcast selected movies across their Sky Box Office and Sky Movies Premier channels with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. You may need to separately purchase a sound system to take full advantage of this awesome experience.
If you would like to have it installed, please contact us.
Sky insist that the installation is carried out by a qualified installer but the receiver can be purchased and self installed. The existing LNB at the end of the dish will need to be replaced and an additional satellite cable fitted from the dish to the receiver. This is very easy to install because there is no need to re-align the satellite dish, the old LNB slides off easily and the new Quad LNB (Not Supplied) is designed to slide back on.
In some cases, you may need to adjust your dish slightly to compensate for the extra weight and size of the Quad.
Also of note is the fact that Sky have dropped the £10 a month fee for Sky+ they used to charge if you didnt subscribe to any Premium channels.
Please note that you cannot use Sky+ to record unless you have a subscription.
